Hats, mittens, socks and shoes
Babies lose a lot of body heat through their heads;
a soft, non-scratchy head cover is essential
Anything over a baby’s foot should be completely unrestricting,
as your baby's bones are still very soft and malleable.
You can buy baby socks and tights, and cot shoes (soft
and flexible) but don’t be tempted to buy proper shoes
until your baby is walking well
Scratch mittens are useful to protect your newborn
from scratching himself with his sharp little nails.
Don’t keep them on too much, as babies need to discover
their hands.
Tips for new Mothers
| Talk to your doctor about the important features of the various
birth control methods. This will help you decide what birth control
option is best for you at this point in your life. |

Knitwear
You can knit beautiful things for your baby - and so
can friends and relatives! It's worth looking at patterns
while you're pregnant. Choose wool that is soft and
machine washable and ensure that the weave is not loose
enough to catch little fingers and toes.
